Some Ideas...
There are many factors to consider when choosing live
entertainment for your function or event. You ideally need
to match it with your venue, the occasion and your invited
guests.
Consider the venue
Before choosing your live
band or musician, visit the venue and check the space
available in the room. If it's a wedding or party, you will
need to allow space for a dance floor. A five to ten piece
band can take up a considerable amount of room.
Consider volume levels
When you visit your venue, check whether they have any sound
restrictions in place. Some hotels have sound limiters
fitted which literally cut off the power if the volume in
the room exceeds a set level. A rock band playing quietly
doesn't quite have the right effect!
Consider the
type of occasion
There are many options for live music. A
string quartet is the perfect choice for a cocktail
reception, whereas a five piece band playing popular covers
would be ideal for dancing and creating a lively party. You
will have the option to indicate your preferred music genres
on the enquiry form
Consider the tastes of the guests
Many live acts
specialise is one genre. When making your choice, consider
the age range of your guests and whether the genre would be
suitable and enjoyed by the majority of them. There are also
many bands who cover a wide range of genres too.
Consider viewing before booking
Most bands and musicians
perform publicly. This gives you the opportunity to go along
to listen to them. Bear in mind their full repertoire may be
much greater than you hear on the night. Even if the music
isn't exactly to your taste, have a chat with them
as they may be able to accommodate your choices.
